Therapies — A CBT Approach to When Therapy Gets Stuck
Even the most experienced therapist and/or supervisor will encounter the occasional case where there seems to be no progress despite the best efforts of all parties. Often there is a history of other professionals having been involved in the same case, again with little progress.
Senior NHS clinicians who specialise in working with the most entrenched client groups in Adult Mental Health will demonstrate techniques for analysing the blocks that prevent therapy from moving forward. Delegates will learn how to identify the type of problem that is inhibiting progress. They will be alerted to common behaviours of both the client and the therapist that are counter-productive, and they will be shown specific techniques to promote change.
During the course of the day the presenters will provide clinical examples, demonstration role-plays and an opportunity to ask questions about problem cases. Previous workshops have been evaluated by delegates as excellent. The workshop is accredited with the BABCP as counting towards members’ CPD requirements.
This workshop is suitable for clinical psychologists, social workers, mental health nurses & counsellors. It is suitable for therapists and/or supervisors.
